What place do you call home? Just asking ’cause I have a new video where I go on and on about the place that I call home. It’s where I live. I’ve been living here a long time.
Where is that? A place called Alice Springs. Right in the middle of Australia.
I wrote this song a long time ago. When I wrote it I wasn’t thinking of me. I was thinking of all the people I ran into who said they came to Alice Springs to buy some petrol and a can of coke … and that was twenty years ago! They’re still here. I thought to myself … ‘won’t happen to me!’ But, guess what? It did. I’m still here.
So, the lesson is this. If you come to Alice Springs … be careful. You may end up staying.
But, here’s the good news … Alice Springs is a good place to live. Don’t believe me? Just ask the folks who stopped in to buy some petrol and a can of coke twenty years ago. There’s plenty of them in town!
